WebLayers Extends Market-Leading Policy Management Capabilities to New IBM SOA Governance Offerings
SOA Governance and policy management taking center stage at IBM Impact 2008
LAS VEGAS. Nev. – April 7, 2008 – From the IBM Impact 2008 Smart SOA™ Conference, WebLayers™ Inc., which automates SOA governance, announced its support for the new IBM WebSphere Service Registry and Repository (WSRR), Advanced Lifecycle Edition.
IBM’s WSRR Advanced Lifecycle Edition combines the capabilities of Rational Asset Manager for service and asset development, coupled with WebSphere Service Registry and Repository (WSRR) for service deployment and runtime.
WebLayers Center provides a unified policy management solution that enables the creation, management and automated enforcement of design-time policies across WSRR Advanced Lifecycle Edition and throughout the IBM SOA Foundation. WebLayers Center is the only solution that has received IBM designation for both components in the new WSRR Advanced Lifecycle Edition.
- WebLayers Center has been integrated and certified by IBM as “Ready for Rational” with Rational Asset Manager. The validation demonstrates WebLayers has met IBM’s requirements for interoperability and user experience.
- IBM has designated WebLayers as a “SOA Specialty Partner” after integrating and successfully completing IBM's rigorous SOA technical and business requirements for WebSphere Service Registry and Repository. WebLayers policies and conformance metadata can be stored and shared within WSRR as part of a federated registry/repository strategy to share policies across the SOA lifecycle.
“Policy is one of the central themes at this year’s IBM Impact event and is a key element of a smart SOA governance strategy,” said Sandy Carter, IBM’s Vice President, SOA and WebSphere Marketing, Strategy and Channels. “We are pleased to have worked with WebLayers to help provide considerable value for our joint customers, many of whom are presenting their impressive results from a policy-based approach to governance at this week’s event.”
“It is great to see SOA policy taking center stage at this year’s IBM Impact event. We’re excited about IBM’s product roadmap as both IBM and WebLayers have a shared understanding of the critical importance policy management and enforcement plays in achieving SOA success,” said Gregg Bjork, CEO of WebLayers. “WebLayers continues to work very closely with IBM across both the Rational and WebSphere families to provide a single solution to define, enforce and measure governance initiatives across the IBM SOA Foundation, from design through deployment.”
WebLayers Center helps organizations realize the promise of web services and Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) by providing a policy-based approach that automates what has traditionally been a manual, labor-intensive process of defining and enforcing governance. WebLayers Center offers the industry’s largest collection of pre-built governance policies – over 2,000 – that span the lifecycle of design, development and deployment. When used together in an SOA environment, WSRR Advanced Lifecycle Edition and WebLayers Center can help organizations reduce development time, improve asset quality and increase re-use rates.
“2008 represents the tipping point for SOA policy management – with many of the largest enterprises now making serious investments in policy management infrastructure,” said Anne Thomas Manes, Vice President at research firm Burton Group. “Successful SOA governance starts with enforcing governance policies early in the lifecycle – in design time – and across a wide variety of assets and supporting SDLC and IT management products.”
