WebLayers Empowers IBM Rational Team Concert Users to Develop Collaboratively, Govern Globally

WebLayers provides automated policy governance for
new IBM Jazz-based technology

ORLANDO, Fla. – June 2, 2008 – From the IBM Rational Software Developer Conference, WebLayers™ Inc., which automates SOA governance, announced its support of IBM Rational Team Concert, the first IBM Jazz-based product family.  WebLayers’ flagship solution, WebLayers Center, will enable IBM Rational Team Concert users to automatically govern services created with IBM Jazz.

WebLayers is a market leader for automated SOA governance. The WebLayers Center solution provides a policy-based approach to automate what has traditionally been a manual, labor-intensive process of defining and enforcing governance policies from design to deployment.  Based on the largest collection of pre-built policies, WebLayers helps companies begin their governance effort in design time, where it will have the most impact, and enforce it through deployment in order to reduce risk and accelerate ROI.

IBM Rational Team Concert provides integrated work item, source control and build management support in globally distributed software development. As developers begin using IBM Rational Team Concert to create services based on IBM Jazz technology, automated governance will help ensure that services adhere to centrally developed policies in order to:

  • Mitigate non-compliance risk;
  • Identify software development problems early in the lifecycle;
  • Significantly reduce re-work;
  • Improve artifact re-use rates; and
  • Redeploy staff from manual governance to more valuable and strategic work.

“IT organizations are increasingly organized across multiple geographies and a myriad of time zones, making IBM’s new global team development offerings timely and relevant,” said Gregg Bjork, CEO of WebLayers. “Automated governance is crucial in distributed environments to ensure standards are adhered to. The combination of WebLayers Center and IBM Rational Team Concert empowers organizations to develop collaboratively and govern globally.”

“WebLayers’ approach to design-time governance aligns well with IBM’s commitment to SOA governance across the software development lifecycle,” said Michael Loria, Vice President of Business Development,  IBM Rational Software. “WebLayers Center integrated with IBM Rational Team Concert will help customers dramatically improve the efficiency and accuracy of their globally distributed software development.”

WebLayers will demonstrate WebLayers Center during the IBM Rational Software Development Conference in Booth 509, and at the JazzLive! Event on Tuesday at the conference. WebLayers executives have also been invited to present during technical sessions at the conference:

  • On Monday, June 2, from 3-4pm, Gregg Bjork will present a session titled, “Successful SOA Governance” featuring a case study of a global insurance provider's transition to SOA.
  • On Wednesday, June 4, from 4:15-5:15pm/5:45pm, WebLayers CTO Guy Loewy will participate in an IBM session titled, “Policy-based SOA Asset Governance - Strategies for Effective SOA Adoption.”
